NFL- Colts Crush Cardinals and Maintain Perfect Run by Ally White

The Indianapolis Colt maintained their perfect run this season after trumping the Arizona Cardinals 31-10 this past Sunday. The visiting team became the leaders of the South Division of the American Football Conference; the Cardinals, on the other hand, now with two losses, are in third place of the West Division in the National Football Conference.

The Colts dominated the game; the team took a total of 505 yards and had possession of the ball for almost 32 minutes throughout the match. Colts quarterback Peyton Manning also boasted an incredible night, completing 24 of his 35 passes, 4 of which became touchdowns. Out of 379 yards, Manning had only one interception.

Reggie Wayne’s performance also bears mention; he caught a total of 7 passes, made 1 touchdown, and completed 126 yards.

The Cardinals opened the score in the match, thanks to a 38-yard field goal by Neil Rackers in the first quarter. In the second quarter, however, the Colts turned things around and began to take control of the action, with Manning making three passes that period.

The first pass went to Reggie Wayne at 20 yards; the extra kick was lobbed by Adam Viniateri to set the score 7-3. The second pass was completed by wingman Dallas Clark in a 10-yard play that put the scoreboard at 14-3. Manning made his impressive, 54-yard third pass to receiver Pierre Garcon, while Viniateri added the extra kick to finish the first half 21-3.

Entering the third quarter, the Cardinals managed to close the lead, applying a tremendous offensive strategy that left the team with a 79-yard run after a 10-yard pass from Kurt Warner to Anquan Boldin. The score moved to 21-10.

Arizona, however, was unable to relish the joy. The Colts reacted quickly with a touchdown; they needed only four plays to go 80 yards and, with only 2:26 left, culminated the play with a 3-yard pass from Manning to runner Joseph Addai that gave them a 28-10 advantage.

In the fourth quarter, Indianapolis took another field goal from Viniateri to increase the lead to 31-10. With the last play, the Colts closed the game and added another notch to their thus far perfect season.

At the end of the game, Colts quarterback Peyton Manning stated that his team’s focus and defense were essential in the game.

â€The defense did a great job of keeping us in it and forcing some turnovers. It easily could've put us in a hole, going three three-and-outs. But we stayed with the plan, stayed patient and finally started hitting some of those deep ones," said Manning.

Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt stated that the major problem for his team was the multiple turnovers.

â€You can't do that,†Whisenhunt said of the turnovers. â€I felt at that point we were in a rhythm, we were moving the football, our defense was playing well and we turned it over. Then they do down and score a touchdown, which was unacceptable.â€
